South Malda college was established in the year 1995, at the New 18 Mile ( near Farakka), Baishanbnagar in Kaliachak Block III of Malda district of West Bengal in order to serve the students of the adjoining areas pursuing quality higher education. The college upholds the ideals of the visionary founder Late A.B.A Ghani Khan Chowdhury to achieve the excellence in higher education, empowerment through knowledge, inclusive growth for socio-economic changes and sustainable development through hard work and sincere efforts by all associated with this rural based institution.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that the teaching faculties, non-teaching staff students and the Governing Body have been working as a team with an excellent level of understanding which has undoubtedly prove a great boon for this institution to grow from strength to strength in its pursuit if knowledge and excellence. Our institution has done a commendable job in the field of all round development of the students with social commitments through excellent education in the last 25 years.

South Malda college is affiliated to University of Gour Banga, Malda, W.B. Naturally, this college follows the curriculum designed and prescribed by the university. However, for the effective implementation of the curriculum, the college always keeps in mind its goals and objectives. The college has various well-structured process through which this institution measures are taken in this respect:

1. Preparation of Annual Academic Calendar

2. Preparation of Time Table

3. Departmental Meeting

4. Use of ICT and PPT

5. Use of Library

6. Internal Examinations

7. Organizing Excursion, Tour, Field Visit etc

8. Wall Magazine and Wall Poster

9. Encourage faculty members to attend Orientation, Refreshers Course, Workshop and Seminar.

10. Appointment of Guest faculty.

11. Providing syllabus and Study materials
